Which place has the best coffee; Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, or Tim Hortons, or Peets?

This is primarily personal preference; and keep in mind that coffee can vary in flavor just by sitting after brewing for a long time, or if you add sugar, creamer, flavorings, etc. to the coffee.

My personal opinion is to rate Starbucks , Peets, Tim Horton, and dunkin donuts as my #1, 2, 3, and 4 picks, for best coffee of the choices presented.

Peet’s coffee is really good, and I enjoyed Kiva Han in Pittsburgh a lot. If we were in Seattle or Hawaii, all bets are off – Seattle has awesome coffee all over the place, and Kona coffee – especially fresh made while visiting Hawaii, is exceptional.

All of these coffee’s can be brewed at home too – they sell their beans, and you can get a burr type grinder to grind them just before you brew, making a superb cup of coffee.  I even grind beans that go into my keurig single cup machine, using  a special, reusable K cup (links to Amazon site).  (Please don’t hate on me for using a Keurig – it’s convenient and gives me lots of choices when brewing just one cup).

I enjoy a good cup of coffee. Disclaimer: I do own some Starbucks stock.

Has Starbucks Pike Place Roast gone Downhill?

To my knowledge, Pikes Place has not changed. Here is the story of Pikes Place roast, which is celebrating it’s tenth year in production! Celebrating 10 years of Starbucks Pike Place Roast – Starbucks website
Ad introducing Pikes Place Roast in 2008
Not everybody liked it, note this scathing article in the NY Post: NO PLACE FOR PIKE AT STARBUCKS
While I found Pikes Place Roast to be an acquired taste, it is now one of my preferred brews. I believe this is because I started drinking it regularly, and became accustomed to it’s flavor.
They good news is that if you don’t like the Starbucks experience, most servers will gladly substitute another coffee rather than see you suffer through a bad coffee experience.
May your life be bolder than your brew.

Got Coffee? Starbucks Pikes Place Roast on Amazon

Three of my Favorite Coffee Places – two in New Orleans, one in Seattle

I usually go to Coffee shops for the coffee; but I can suggest three that stand out in my mind; Morning Call at City Park in New Orleans – view of the park; Cafe Du Mond in the French Quarter in New Orleans – view of Jackson Square (and OH- the people watching!!). Number three is the Starbucks in Pikes Market, where you can walk outside to the Victor Steinbrueck park and look out over the waterfront.
In New Orleans, I would recommend Cafe Au lait and some Beignets, While in Seattle I would suggest a Grande Pikes Roast with 2%, and a croissant.
(not the best picture, but look at the cool totem pole)!
While this may not be the “best” view, or the “best” coffee, I enjoyed these places, and look forward to finding others. Anyone know a good Coffee shop in Hawaii with a view of the volcano? I love Kona Coffee…..
